Hunter Round Field Shoot

Club competitions can be entered by any member. There is no obligation to do so, but we recommend you do if you want to see how much you improve year on year. You can enter competitions but not have your score submitted if you wish to keep a personal track of your own score.

Summer Competitions

During the summer months, we shall be running two competitions:

American Round
American round on Sunday mornings starting at 10am.
This consists of shooting 2 1/2 doz. at each distance of 60yrds, 50yrds and 40yrds. For a total of 90 arrows shot. Juniors to shoot at 40yrds, 30yrds and 20yrds. (5 zone scoring)

National Round
During the evening sessions at 6.30pm.
This consists of shooting 4 doz at 60yrds and 2 doz at 50yrds. For a total of 72 arrows shot.
Juniors to shoot at 40yrds and 30yrds. (5 zone scoring)

Winter Competitions

In the winter months, (October to March), we will be running two competitions:

Portsmouth
Shot indoors.
This is five dozen arrows on a 60cm single target face at 20 yards. (10 zone scoring)

Worcester
Shot indoors.
This is five dozen arrows on a 60m single target face at 20 yards. (10 zone scoring)

Scarborough Frostbite
Shot outdoors.
This is 36 arrows shot at 30m to an 80cm face.
Juniors to shoot at 30m. (10 zone scoring.)

Yearly Competitions

Field Shoot
A monthly competition shot within the Field Archery course. The competition consists of 20 targets around the course at various distances and is shot barebow.

From the 2017-2018, the three best scores will give a total score. The person with the highest total score will be the winner.

Hunter Round
A monthly weekday competition shot on the Field Archery course. The competition consists of 20 targets around the course, with only one arrow shot from the red peg.

The three best scores will give a total score.   The person with the highest total score will be the winner.

Miscellaneous Information 

Dates when each round takes place can be found in the calendar.

In all competitions there will be Recurve, Longbow, Gentlemen and Ladies, also junior boys and junior girls’ categories.

There is a small “one off” entry fee, per competition per bow style, of £2.00 for adults and £ 1.00 for juniors.

There will be Trophies and medals for all categories in both competitions, at the end of the season.

N.B. From Summer 2017 a handicap scoring scheme was introduced.
