If you are new to archery, had a go while on holiday or haven’t shot in a very long time, our beginner’s course is the place to start.
Each beginner’s course runs as weekly sessions over 5 weeks. These last approximately 1 hour, extending to 1 1/2 hours for the last two sessions. During the beginner’s course you will have tuition from 1-2 members of our coaching team.
Over the five weeks you will learn:
– how to shoot a recurve bow safely and consistently
– about the different types of bow including recurve (as used in the Olympics), longbow, field bows and the modern compound bow
– how to score and shoot in competitions
All equipment required will be provided by the club for the duration of the course. All you need to do is to bring yourself.
The course fees for 2017 are £50 for adults and £25 for under 18’s, this price includes 5 weekly sessions, equipment and insurance cover.
The course is suitable for all ages from 11 and up. All juniors must be accompanied by a parent (or other responsible adult) whilst they attend any club activity. We actively encourage parents to get involved and support the junior in their pursuit of archery, even if they’re not shooting themselves.
Courses are run throughout the summer, at the club field on Osgodby Lane. They are usually on Saturday afternoons, but if demand is high, courses may run on Tuesday evenings. Booking is required, so please contact us before turning up.
All our courses for 2017 are now fully finished. We are taking bookings for 2018.
