Over the years, the Mayoress’ Community Fund has donated tens of thousands of pounds to community groups and projects in Filey, Scarborough and Whitby and the surrounding areas.
After only struggling with two kettles and a gas stove for hot drinks for open days, corporate events and beginner courses, we thought it would be ideal to apply for a grant to allow us to get a hot water heater, that would heat more water faster.
Thankfully we managed to get a grant for a hot water heater, which we put to the test on our Open Day. Proving itself to be more than useful.
John, went to the Promenade Lounge at the Spa on Tuesday 8th May. Received a cheque for £180 for the cost of the new water boiler. Which was presented by the Mayoress Mrs Cherry Smith.
Mrs Cherry Smith, Mayoress of the Borough of Scarborough said:
“The Mayoress’ Community Fund often supports the sorts of groups or projects that might struggle to get help from more mainstream funding sources, but which with a little help, can make a real difference to beneficiaries and the wider community. “
