Christmas Fun Shoot – 2017

The traditional Scarborough Archers Christmas Shoot was once again upon us. No snow on the ground, but enough Christmas spirit in the air.

36 members and family enjoyed the festivities of the Christmas shoot, with many scoffing down the mince pies and mulled wine on offer. Despite the cold weather the onsite pyromaniac Phil, managed to get the fire roaring and everyone was suitably warm before shooting took place.

New for this year was Colin’s speed shooting competition, which rewarded quickness as well as accuracy. It proved to be a roaring success, so much so we will see if it is possible to have a competition next year.

Winners were:
Adults: Neil S
Juniors: Ben

We also had a fun scoring competition, which ran concurrently, that consisted of 4 ends of 6 arrows the high scorers were:

Juniors: Jack and Emily
Recurve: Phil S
Wood Bows: Graham S and Alison H.

A special thanks to Leigh (Arkwright) who organised and ran Arkwright’s Secret Santa Emporium, he was kept busy throughout the morning, although the mince pies conventionally nearby seemed to help.

Many thanks for everyone that turned up and made it a huge success.

Next event is Colin’s arrow and string making workshops, perfect for beginners or those that need some extra guidance.
