Inaugural Roger Greaves Trophy

As we know our good friend and one of our longest serving members Roger Greaves passed away last year. As someone who saw the club numbers fluctuate over the years, ranging from 3 members to our current highest of over 100. Roger had kept the club going over the years, and was finally happy to see the club have its own grounds here in Osgodby after many years in trying to find a ground to shoot at.

In his honour and in recognition of his dedication, we had devised a competition that celebrated Roger’s passion for archery, combing his excitement in robin hood shots that he was always proud to show off, and something that of all abilities could win.

This years theme was shooting apples off heads. With the added danger of hitting the head twice would eliminate yourself from the competition. This saw many archers who have shot at the club for years fall early on including Neil, Derek and Leigh all out in 3 arrows or less.

Eventually Sean Beadnall emerged as adult winner, narrowly beating Phil Simms and Ann Naylor into joint second place.

The juniors also had a tough battle  with Lewis narrowly beating Ben and Dylan into joint second place.

A huge thank you to Roger’s family who came to present the trophies.

Thanks also goes to Chef de partie, Derek who was once again on hand to get the BBQ going, and a special thank you to everyone for turning up.
