A bleary-eyed Sunday morning welcomed five Scarborian Field Archers who headed off to Phoenix Field Archers in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire for an open field shoot.
The smell of bacon sandwiches greeted those that arrived and proved too much of a temptation and were quickly consumed. After being suitably woken up the competition began.
Over 100 archers entered the event, with some top class field shooters taking part. The course having 40 targets to aim at, ranging from a 8ft tall bear to small fox cubs, offered a wide selection of some easy and not so easy shots.
While none of the group came away with medals, all shot very well, with the inter-club competition being won by Colin, followed by John. and Phil P. Although Andy came away with a raffle prize, so all wasn’t lost.
We thank Phoenix Field Archers for organising an enjoyable day. With it only being their 2nd event, we can certainly see it attracting even more archers in the years to come.
