The second Scarborough Archers Open Day was a huge success. We had over 120 people through the gate, with many trying archery for the first time. A good number also signed up for our very popular beginners courses, thanks to Debbie’s enthusiasm.
Juniors were very well represented. Jack B. (aged 5) showing that you’re never too young to start, while Ruby and Libby focused on the animal targets. We had the traditional archery targets, which proved very popular, keeping club members Neil, Derek, Andy and Stuart busy. We also had a Field Archery exhibition, where visitors could simulate hunting by shooting at realistic foarm animals. This was run by Colin and Jean, aided by John I. and John R.. Possibly the hardest working people were Ann N. and Cecily S. who did a sterling job running the refreshment stall.
All money raised on the day, totalling around £300, was donated to St Catherine’s Hospice. Thank you to all members who helped with their time, and providing cakes etc.
