No shooting tonight – hall out of use

Pete has just contacted me and informed me that the hall at the Blue Dolphin is still too full to use. There will be no shooting tonight.

We shall discuss the situation and decide whether shooting will be on on Friday night depending on whether the hall is being emptied again etc.

Robert Goodwill, MP is coming to the club on Friday to present us with a cheque that he won in a Parliamentary shoot recently. He will be at the club on Friday evening at 6.30pm.

Could as many members as possible arrive for that time please so the press can take a good photo of the club with Robert…..thanks.

4th Round of Frostbite competition

The 4th round of the winter frostbite competition was shot today (Sunday) .

The weather was probably as good as it gets for a frostbite competition, unfortunately nobody took advantage of the conditions.

The best three scores on the day were - Robin Little 299, Roger Greaves 295 and Colin Greenway 270.

The next frostbite competition will be held on Sunday 12th February, venue to be announced.

Frostbite Round 3

The December Frostbite competition (round 3) was shot in cold and blustery conditions, which reflected in the scores.

The best three scores on the day were : John Naylor 299, Roger Greaves 293 and Mark Breckon 279.

Well done Toby, who shot 274 a huge improvement on last month. Well done to all who turned out.

Round 4 will be shot on January 8th 2012.

Charity money hand over

Yesterday several members of the group of archers who all contributed to the 24 hour charity shoot the club held in July this year visited St. Catherine’s Hospice to have a photo taken handing over the £850 that we raised.

The other half of the money (£850) has already been paid to our second chosen charity, Help For Heroes.

A press photographer came to record the event and this will be in the Scarborough Evening News next week sometime.

Christmas Club Night Out on Friday 16th December

He has sent me the following details regarding the night out:

Meet 7pm in Mist, a meal at 7.30 at Saba Thai resturant on St. Thomas Street, then back to Mist, then who knows! Pete.

Frostbite results

Nine members took part in the second round of the winter frostbite competition on Sunday.

The best three scores on the day were – John Naylor : 307, Robin Little – 306, and Roger Greaves – 288.

Round 3 will be held on Sunday December 11th.

Bridlington Tournament 2011

On Sunday 6^thNovember, 10 archers from Scarborough Archers took part in the annual indoor Portsmouth archery tournament at Bridlington.

Pete Liley, Sarah Monteith, Roger Greaves, Mark Breckon, Chris Gibson, Paul Oates, Derek Simpson, Neil Simms, Phil Simms and John Naylor all shot the Portsmouth round.

Mark Breckon shot exceptionally well in his first tournament and came 5^th overall in the Gents Recurve category.

Neil and Phil Simms and Derek Simpson who were also in their first tournament and all shot well, with Phil Simms winning the silver medal in the Junior Gents 14 Plus category.

Sarah Monteith was shooting to defend her Ladies Recurve title of the last two years and she managed to secure the gold medal and trophy for
the 3^rd year in a row.

Scarborough Archers also won the gold medal and trophy in the team event with a score of 2685. The team consisted of Sarah Monteith, Mark Breckon, John Naylor, Neil Simms and Roger Greaves.
